According to well-known Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the redesigned AirPods Pro 2 with a USB Type-C charging connector could go on sale in the second half of 2023. Remember that the second-generation Lightning charging case-equipped AirPods Pro were released in September 2022. New wireless earphones with USB Type-C charging are on the way from the company.

“I believe this is the AirPods Pro 2 USB-C version, with widespread distribution expected in 2Q23-3Q23.” By the way, according to Kuo on Twitter, Apple appears to have no plans for USB-C versions of the AirPods 2 and 3.

References to new AirPods found in the iOS 16.4 Release Candidate, according to Kuo, point to the AirPods Pro USB-C model.

It’s possible that the updated AirPods Pro 2 will be available by the third quarter of 2023.

The current Apple AirPods Pro charging case includes a built-in speaker that can be used to help users find it if it is misplaced. It also has Apple Watch charger support and an U1 chip for Find My Device on the device.

Apple has been pressed to replace the lightning port on its iPhones, AirPods, and other devices with USB Type-C connections. After switching the Siri Remote for the Apple TV from Lightning to USB-C, it makes sense for Apple to transition the AirPods to Type-C.

Apple is expected to release an iPhone 15 series with USB-C charging in 2023, according to rumours. The Cupertino-based company is expected to incorporate a special IC chip into its USB-C connector, simulating the Lightning port’s authentication process.

According to an earlier Macrumours article, Apple has created its own USB Type-C connector variant for the iPhone 15, citing a Weibo rumour. The Weibo leaker claims to be a 25-year Intel Pentium processor veteran and integrated circuit specialist.

Apple introduced MFi-certified first-party Lightning ports in 2012. A tiny integrated circuit (IC) in these connectors verifies the components used in the connection.
